Moslem Ghomashlouyan is an assistant and doctoral researcher at the Institute of Social Anthropology of the University of Bern. He completed an MA in Sociology and Social Anthropology at the Central European University (CEU). Before that, he had studied Sociology at the University of Tehran.
Moslem works on mobility and borders with a theoretical background in a grounded understanding of the workings of the states through concrete-complex networks of relations from the local to the transnational scales of the state. He is interested in the study of state-society relations in general with special regional knowledge of Iran and the Kurdish Middle East.
His current research, which is taking place in the Kurdish borderlands of the Iran-Iraq border, is supervised by Prof. Dr. Sabine Strasser (University of Bern) and Prof. Shahram Khosravi (Stockholm University).
