Pearl Pandya is a PhD student in the SNF Project, "Pathways from Injury: Naming, Proving and Interpreting”. For her PhD project, she is studying the different perceptions of online hate speech in law versus practice in India, thereby understanding the varying interpretations and negotiations of hate speech by the court and police.
She was previously a Research Assistant at the médialab at SciencesPo, Paris working on the politics of language on YouTube and print media. She has done her Masters in Human Rights and Humanitarian Action from the Paris School of International Affairs, SciencesPo; and has a BA (Hons.) in History from St. Stephen's College, Delhi University.
Her research interests are Hate speech legislation and regulation, Digital and Social Media, Law and Society, Anthropology of Violence and Police, Legal Anthropology.
